Out of Order

Installations

At midnight, 144 signal lights come on. One goes out every ten minutes. This is the interval at which, according to data from UN Women and UNODC, a woman or girl is killed by her partner or a family member somewhere in the world. After 24 hours, the field is empty.

A statistic is easy to read and easy to forget. The installation ‘Out of Order’, however, transforms it into a span of time. It demands to be observed, waited out and endured.
